The Business Administrator/Board Secretary shall be responsible to the Superintendent and the Board of Education for carrying out the business affairs of the school district as prescribed by the statutes and rules of the State Department of Education.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Superintendent in the projection of facility needs and oversee all construction programs. Help develop educational standards for sites, buildings and equipment, prepare cost data and cooperate with the architect and construction supervisor during the construction process.
- Maintain complete records and procedures of receipt and expenditure transactions.
- Maintain an internal audit to ascertain that established policies and procedures are being followed, that accounting is accurate and that all controls are adequately maintained.
- Maintain procedures to provide adequate controls for the safeguard of assets, the substantial accuracy of the financial statements and expenditures against the annual budget.
- Maintain a sound budgeting process with stringent controls.
- Maintain procedures for authorizing payment of goods and services rendered.
- Maintain procedures and records for insurance programs.
- Administer transportation department and services.
- Keep a record of all Board of Education meetings.
- Invest all Board of Education funds.
