Do I have to sign up for the Home Notification System?

No, you do not have to sign up. You are automatically enrolled if you have a student in any of Wayne's Public Schools.

How will this system benefit parents and students? |

By allowing building principals or district administrators to contact the home of every student in the district in order to provide important information in a very timely manner. |

How does the system work? |
A: |
Essentially, it is a software-based system that is able to simultaneously broadcast multiple phone, email, and text messages to a great number of persons using a database of names and contact information. |

What will the system be used for?

During Phase I we will limit contact to phone messages and only for emergencies, school closings, delayed openings and early dismissals. |

What information is currently in the data base?

Currently, our database consists of information gathered from the existing Student Information System located in each school. |

How are messages delivered?
|
A: |
In Phase I the software is programmed to call a home phone, and one primary cell phone for each parent/guardian. If no live person is reached, it will leave a message for an answering machine. If it encounters a busy signal, it will redial three times in five-minute intervals. |

What is planned for Phase II? |

The ability to choose specific contact preferences for non-emergency/closing calls and attendance calls. |

What additional functionality is planned for Phase III? |

The district will begin to use the system to notify parents whenever their child is absent from school.
It will also expand the capability for school principals to contact parents with information specific to their school.
