May and June have certainly kept the third grade students busy! We celebrated Mother’s Day by visiting the plant sale. We hope all of the mothers enjoyed their special day and the beautiful flowers that were purchased for them. Our l-o-n-g Memorial Day weekend was a restful way to wrap up the month! In June, we celebrated Flag Day, and the students had a terrific time making their Father’s Day projects. We hope that all of the fathers enjoyed their special day as well!
During these months, the third graders finished their “Weather Watch” reading theme and have moved into “What a Day!” In this theme, they are reading about unique characters and experiences. The children have also shared memorable moments from their own lives. We will be writing about some of our favorite memories of third grade as the school year ends.
In Math, we have been working on multiple digit multiplication. The students now see why knowing their basic facts is truly helpful! We will end third grade by reviewing measurement and data. The students will be exploring volume, weight, and capacity. Please be sure to continue working on the multiplication facts throughout the summer!
The third graders have completed their Social Studies theme on Different Types of Places and are now learning about the Sun, Moon, and Earth in Science. The students will be comparing and contrasting facts, as well as learning many new science terms. We are sure it will be out of this world!!
As the school year comes to an end, we would like to thank all of you for sharing your children with us. We have enjoyed learning with them. We wish you a relaxing and pleasant summer. Keep reading and practicing those math facts.
