Fallon Flier
February, 2010
Well, here we are at the halfway point of the year! Time flies when you’re learning and having fun at Fallon.
December was filled with many fun and educational activities. Congratulations to our third grade students for a great performance of Home for the Holidays.” The show, as always, was a great success. Thank you to Mrs. Altamura, Mrs. Polizzotto and Mrs. Thomas for writing and directing this enjoyable show. Our holiday festivities would not have been complete without our enjoyable sing-a-long led by Mr. Mecca an outstanding holiday concert under the direction of Rocco Patierno. Special thanks to the teachers who got up to sing during the sing-a-long (don’t quit your day jobs). Special thanks to our class parents for setting up the class parties and our PTO for sponsoring the Holiday Boutique sale.
Currently, our second grade teachers and students are hard at work preparing for their grade level program titled “100 Days of Learning.” The performances of the second grade show will be on Thursday, February 11th. The parent performance will be at 9:30 and the student performance will be at 2:00 PM. We hope to see you there!
Our Family Science program was extremely successful under the direction of Mrs. Houlihan and Mrs. Thomas. It’s great to see families working together on these challenging and fun science projects.
The Student Council recently organized a “Hats on Day” fundraiser to benefit children with pediatric cancer. Thank you to our Fallon families for your donations to this worthy cause. We raised $1,311!!!
A note of thanks to the PTO chairs and numerous volunteers who brought us many great events including the Holiday Boutique, our Community Outreach programs, Family Bingo Night, the Cultural Enrichment Programs and the 5th Grade DARE Graduation. The staff and I would also like to thank the PTO for their generous donations to our school.
Please check our calendar for the many events that will take place during February and March. These events include Go Red for Hearts Day, Officer Phil assembly, the 1st and 2nd grade shows, Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart, the 2nd annual Poetry Contest, the Scholastic Book Fair, It’s a Boy Thing and It’s a Girl Thing for our 4th graders, 5th Grade Colonial Day and the 5th grade trip to Camp Warwick.
Further, please be reminded that registration for the 2010-2011 Kindergarten class is scheduled for February 2, 4, 9 and 11. Please encourage anyone that you know who has a child who will be entering kindergarten in September 2010 to register earlier rather than later. This allows us to plan for their arrival.
