March and April will be busy months for the third graders. Our next reading theme is “What’s Cooking?” We will read stories that feature foods like panettone, kimbap, a roast, and fried chicken.
In math we will be working on Unit 7 about multiplication and division. Students will work on extending facts such as 200 x 5 and 1800 divided by 60. Also, students will be multiplying two digits by one digit and solving math equations with parentheses. Please continue to practice all the basic multiplication facts at home for our weekly timed quizzes.
Students are eager to start their Native American Research projects. Using books and online resources, students will pose research questions and locate the information. Students will be guided through the research process and the writing of the written report.
In science students will be learning about Space. Chapter 15 of the science textbook focuses on patterns in the sky and Chapter 16 further explores the solar system. Through the use of the Connected Classroom System, students will be able to look at images taken from the Hubble Space Telescope. The website is http://hubblesite.org if you would like to view some at home.
