JFK Fantastic 4th Grade

As we head into the New Year, the fourth graders are progressing nicely with their multiplication facts. Continue to practice facts 0-9, as we want to be able to complete 35 facts in one minute by the end of the year. We will be getting into long division and those facts will be really important to know!

Our writing assignments have been really fun lately. Lots of descriptive writing is going on and great authors are budding all around us. Students are working on descriptive writing pieces, including their favorite foods. Reading their final pieces is definitely going to make you hungry!!!

As we head into the New Year, students will continue their study of New World explorers in Social Studies. We will be completing a flip book of facts about several Europeans who discovered the land we live on.

Although the weather has turned quite chilly, it is great to analyze in science class. What kind of precipitation is snow? A liquid...solid...gas? Students are working on a weather unit and soon will be moving on to Extreme Weather…tornadoes and hurricanes!

During the months of January and February, the 4th graders will be visiting the Outdoor Lab for the first time this year. To prepare for this visit, please make sure children are dressed appropriately for the weather that day. Boots, hats, scarves and gloves are highly recommended. Also a change of clothing for when they return is sometimes needed, as pants, socks, and boots are sometimes dirty and wet. It does prove however, to be a fun day of exploration for the kids! We can't wait!!!
