Lafayette School - Home of the Lions, Roaring to Learn!

Lafayette School continues the tradition of excellence. All teachers are Highly Qualified and parents have the right to inquire about their qualifications. This school houses students in grades Pre-K to Five. Every year our students receive Presidential Academic Awards and are recognized not only in academic areas, but also in the areas of Visual/Performing Arts and Athletics.

We follow Martin Luther King's belief that, "The goal of true education is to strengthen intelligence and character." Good citizenship is achieved through several Character Education Programs such as Cooperative Discipline, Positive Action School, Conflict Resolution, Y.E.S. (anti-bullying program), the Heartwood Program, etc. Since morality in our actions gives dignity and beauty to life, we all strive to set good examples for our students.

Lafayette students are involved in Student Goverment, Safety Patrol, Peer Mediation, D.A.R.E., Math Olympics, Read to Succeed, Wall of Fame, Differentiated Instruction, Research Projects, Integration of Technology, Field Day, Talent Show, Grade Level Performances and much more.

We believe, as Oliver Wendell Holmes states, that "A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its original dimensions."

The Lafayette School Community is fortunate to have outstanding Faculty and Staff who care about every child's success. With the high commitment and involvement of the parents we are able to offer rich, meaningful programs for our students, such as Spotlight On Children, Cultural Arts, Earth Day/Nature Trail, Art Moms, Safety Day, special assemblies and other exciting events.

As Napoleon once said, "Opportunities strengthen abilities." We are lucky at Lafayette to have such a caring, involved community.

THANK YOU FOR DRIVING SAFELY IN OUR PARKING LOT!

Let us continue to follow our school's motto: Together Everyone Achieves More!

Wishing you all rewarding experiences,

Stella A. Cosmas
Principal

 Highly Qualified Teacher Status

The federal law, called No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires teachers to be “highly qualified” in the subjects they teach.  As parents you have the right to inquire about the qualifications and the “HQT” status of your child’s teacher.  At Lafayette Elementary School every classroom has a “Highly Qualified Teacher” who is dedicated to the success of each child.  I encourage you to continue to support your child’s education and communicate with his or her teacher on a regular basis.  By partnering with your child’s teacher, together we can provide your child with the best education possible.
