Understanding Dues
At Wayne Valley

This page provides information about fees and dues WV families are requested to pay.

All Wayne Valley families are asked to:
- Join the WV PTO (a membership drive is held from September through the end of November each year)
- Pay Class Dues (timing varies – one payment covers all 4 years)
- Contribute to Project Graduation (timing varies – payments customarily are divided over 4 years)

WV PTO Membership-

Description: WV PTO Membership is voluntary and costs $5 per year per family.

How are the funds used? PTO dues go into the WV PTO treasury and are used to cover the organization’s operating expenses and to provide hospitality at school events such as Back To School Night and Freshman Orientation, scholarships for qualifying seniors ($3000 in scholarships provided each year) and fund a wide variety of gifts to the school.

How and when do I join?  A PTO Mailing goes out to all WV families each September that includes a membership form. You may join by sending the form and a check to WV PTO to the address found on the form. The form is also posted on the PTO section of the WV web site. You may also join at the PTO Membership table on Back to School night. All checks should be make out to “Wayne Valley PTO”.

Important Note: In order for a senior to be eligible for one of the PTO scholarships, the student’s family must be a paid PTO member for four years ($20 over four years) (or for each year the student has been at WV if student has transferred to WV during high school).

Class Dues-

Description: Class dues are paid to “Wayne Valley High School”. Each class, Class of 2008, Class of 2009, etc., elects officers and is assigned two staff members as Class Advisors who generally remain with a single class for all four high school years.

How do I join?  A memo is mailed home or sent home via ninth grade students requesting that class dues be paid. At WV, this amount is $70.00 total, beginning with the class of 2009.  A two payment option is available, with payment of  $30.00 and then $40.00.  All checks must be made out to “Wayne Valley High School”.

How are funds use?  The class dues cover expenses associated with activities sponsored by the class, such as a Junior Dance, senior picnic, etc. These events may not be the same for all classes since the officers and advisors of each class meet to decide on activities.

Important Note: Families must pay class dues in order to participate in class-sponsored activities such as the Junior Dance, Senior Prom.

Project Graduation Dues-

Description: Project Graduation is a committee overseen by the WV PTO. Each class has its own committee and chairpersons. The committee decides the amount of Project Graduation dues. At WV, the amount has been $25 per year ($100 for four years).

How are the funds used?  This money goes directly to fund the event planned by the Project Graduation committee for that class. During Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years, some of the money is used for informational mailings and to cover incidental expenses associated with administering fundraisers such as the Craft Fairs.

How do I find out about these fees? A letter with a form is mailed to each family in the class from the Project Graduation committee describing the fee and asking that you send in a form and check to the committee treasurer. Checks for all Project Graduation related payments should be made out to the Project Graduation class for the year your child graduates (example: “Project Graduation Class of 2005“) since each class has its own treasury.

Suggestions to help you keep track of fees/dues-
-Pay by check
-Keep a record of the check no. and type of fee/dues
