Chorus

Chorus is a 5-credit class that meets everyday.  Seventh and Eighth graders combine into one large chorus, while all sixth-grade chorus students meet together during their own period.  Throughout the year, both choruses rehearse a variety of music in preparation for several public performances.  In addition the students learn how to read music and also vocal and breathing techniques that will enable them to become better singers.

The Holiday Concert is presented at AW in December as well as an all-school assembly for the student body.  There may also be field trips to the elementary schools to build interest in singing for the soon-to-be “middle-schoolers”.

During the spring the singers rehearse music for their choir festival, which is joined with a trip to Great Adventure.  Two judges evaluate each choir’s performances  and awards are given accordingly.  The Anthony Wayne choirs always perform brilliantly!

In June, the  both choirs perform a spring concert and participate in the 8th  grade promotion ceremony.
