World Language at Anthony Wayne Middle School

SPANISH (Cycles)

The 6th, 7th and 8th grade cycle program offers the students the ability to understand and converse about familiar topics in Spanish while exploring the culture, history and traditions of various Spanish speaking countries and Puerto Rico.

 

Level 1 Courses

The courses described below are high school level courses available to 8th grade students who meet the eligibility criteria.

SPANISH I

The 8th grade Spanish I program offers a more comprehensive program, presenting the students a more rigorous daily curriculum, which will prepare them for success in Spanish II as a freshman in high school. Students will be working on all modes of communication, speaking, reading and writing.  Spanish I students will also study various historical and cultural aspects of Spanish speaking nations. Students at this level will also be evaluated via mid-term and final exams.

ITALIAN I

Italian I is a beginning course that familiarizes the students with everyday phrases and sentences that can stimulate conversation in a variety of situations.  Moreover, it emphasizes the active and practical use of the language through the structured and guided teacher-directed activities and instruction.  Furthermore, it introduces the lifestyles and cultures of the various regions of Italy and affords the students an opportunity to communicate in a different manner other than their native languages.
