December 8, 2008
Dear Students and Parents,
George Washington Middle School has a proud tradition of reaching out to serve its community and is proud to announce our school-wide community service project. This year, we are pleased to participate in a food drive to assist Wayne families in need. Families in our community are experiencing severe financial hardships and we are asking for donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries. Listed below are much-needed items:
Canned foods
Protein-based foods (canned tuna, canned ham, etc.)
Pasta
Pasta sauce
Rice
Macaroni and Cheese
Cereal
Oatmeal
Non-perishable foods
Toilet paper/tissue
Toothpaste
Shaving cream
Deodorant
Please do not bring in baby items or pet food as they will not be accepted.
The food drive will commence December 11, 2008 and end December 22, 2008. Students are asked to bring in food or toiletry items to homeroom whereby student volunteers will collect the items and arrange for them to be delivered to the Wayne Food Bank. We would appreciate it if every student could bring in at least one item so that they may develop a sense of responsibility for the community in which they live.
We thank you in advance for your participation in this worthy cause for our community.
Happy Holidays,
Mrs. Mary Jane Tierney
