The goal of the Applied Technology Department is to create a classroom environment that provides all students equal comfort to achieve success in this program. Hopefully, each student will feel free enough to view errors as an opportunity for further exploration.

Most of the classroom activities used by the Applied Technology Department are designed to be solved collaboratively. We feel strongly that middle school students must be afforded opportunities to experience collaborative learning through hands on exploration, prototype testing, and the subsequent analysis and modification.

Schuyler-Colfax's Applied Technology program is diverse in its scope and sequence. Our classes strive above all to provide to each student a practical application for many of the theoretical concepts taught in academic courses. In fact, we have been awarded a "Best Practices" designation by the State of New Jersey and serve as a model demonstration site to other school districts.
