Schuyler-Colfax offers basic skills classes, special education services, and both in-class support and resource room instruction for any student classified as having a specific learning disability. In an effort to remediate difficulties identified during standardized testing, we provide BSIP classes in Language Arts and Mathematics for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.
ICS (in-class support) classes are offered in all academic areas and are taught collaboratively by a general education teacher and a special education teacher. Resource room classes, which provide small group instruction, are offered in English, Mathematics, and Reading. These classes are taught by a special education teacher. The curriculum is the same as in any other class, but the smaller group allows for more direct and individual instruction. Through these special programs, we try to ensure success for all students.
