The Family and Consumer Science Department offers three(3) courses at each of the various grade levels. "Interpersonal Skills", a course offered at the 6th grade level, is designed to teach students the skills necessary to handle the strong social and emotional issues they face at this age. The seventh graders are introduced to basic nutrition, meal planning and food preparation in "Foods and Personal Nutrition". The eighth graders incorporate the various skills they have acquired over the past two years in a combination course called "Life Skills".
All three courses are designed to foster independence and creativity in each student. They are activity-based, hands-on courses which allow students to integrate the information presented to them into their current lives.
