WVMC Mission Statement

The mission of the Educational Media Program of the Wayne Township School District is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of resources, ideas, and information to promote in our youth the powers of literacy and competencies to function effectively in the workplace of the 21st century. This mission recognizes the essential role of the school library media program in the educational process as a catalyst for all academic instruction and a dynamic force for excellence in education.

In support of this mission, the library media program will provide:

Intellectual and physical access to a well-rounded multi-media collection.

Standards of instruction and design assessments to foster competence, independence, aesthetic appreciation and a lifelong interest in reading, viewing, listening, and effectively using ideas an information.

Opportunities for an active partnership with parents, teachers, and administrators infusing common instructional goals and fully integrating the library media program into the curriculum.

A gateway to information and technologies as they are developed.

Appropriate materials to support state approved core curriculum content standards and district approved curricula so that educators can design learning activities to meet curriculum and students' needs.
