Overview

  • Welcome to Ryerson Elementary School

Our school is unique. Under our multi-instructional paradigm, we administer to the intellectual needs of students in grades kindergarten through five.  The multi-cultural composition of Ryerson's community presents our students and staff with an opportunity to savor, appreciate and understand the traditional customs or folkways of our diverse population.

Our curriculum meets and far exceeds the high expectations established by the Common Core. A variety of strategies are used to enhance instruction in all academic areas.  Concentrated staff in-service focuses on powerful intervention strategies to assist all students of all ability levels.  Teachers take a global approach to education by making connections between cultures and current and historical events.

We have created an environment that clearly conveys the message that all children can learn and are expected to perform to their fullest ability. We strive to create an active learning environment that engages students, parents, staff, and community members. We assist children in building a strong academic background, understanding and knowledge, along with moral and social attitudes and values that will sustain them for life long learning. In this era of the Internet and globalization, of cultural diversity and universal connectivity, the world is our home and we are preparing our children to live in it.

We have an active Parent Teacher Organization, a technology network system with software to compliment all academic areas as well as Internet service in every classroom to connect students and staff to the worldwide web. During our school year, we engage students, parents, staff and community in a variety of activities including:

    • After School Enrichment/Support Programs
    • An Annual Cultural Diversity Program
    • Annual Art Exhibit

*The “School 2 Work – School 2 Life” Program at Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills High Schools enables qualified students to transition to working environments that are related to their career goals throughout the Wayne community.  Through the efforts of Mr. Markowick, and with the support of the school community, Ryerson has been named a designated job site for inclusion in this program.  Eligible students who are interested in careers in child care, sports, or recreational activities, are invited to work with teachers and staff to gain hands-on experience in the Ryerson school setting.
