What do ViPS do?
The ViPS (“Volunteers in Public Schools”) are students who volunteer —as needed— in the Media Center, Main Office, Nurses’ Office, Athletics Office or Guidance.
ViPS student volunteers report to the Media Center 1-2 times a week during lunch or study to work on a variety of tasks in locations throughout the building.
Volunteers may set their own schedule and request specific tasks or work locations. These requests will be accommodated as much as possible, although volunteers should be prepared to be flexible.
ViPS in the Media Center
ViPS are trained by the media specialist to perform a variety of tasks in the Media Center. These include: re-shelving books, processing new books, creating themed library displays, assisting students in using the online catalog and/or locating digital or print materials, as well as a variety of clerical and light "housekeeping" duties.
ViPS volunteers must be courteous, helpful, reliable and willing to complete assigned tasks diligently.
If you have never been a WHHS ViPS volunteer before - click on the link to print, complete and hand in the new member questionnaire. Please stop by the Media Center to drop it off and speak with the Media Specialist.
Current ViPS: please stop by - we need lots of help at the start of the school year! You will receiver refresher training and set up your 2018-19 service schedule.
