Safety Town is a program in which youngsters eligible for kindergarten in September are familiarized with various concepts of safety.
It is conducted during the month of July at James Fallon School, 51 Clifford Drive.
The program allows each youngster to become sensitive to the need for safety in the home, the school, and community. Although not mandatory, it serves as an excellent experience for those who will be entering kindergarten in September.
Two Wayne teachers, assisted by teenage volunteer aides, instruct each student for one week. Each day students have an opportunity to travel through a model town which includes buildings, streets, and traffic signals. Along the way they participate in fun activities related to safety. Prior to graduation, each student will meet a policeman, a fireman, and go on a school bus.
