  • Letter to Parents and Guardians - Student Transportation - January 10, 2022

The Transportation Department is doing everything possible to maintain our normally reliable services and they continue to do a great job under difficult circumstances. We were already struggling to find drivers to cover all of our routes due to the general driver shortage across the industry. Today, we had 17 drivers out.

  • Important Update from the Superintendent - January 1, 2022

At this time, we plan to be back in-person on January 3rd for full-time instruction. There are some noteworthy changes that are important to share. The most important change is that Wayne falls within an area designated by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) as VERY HIGH RISK for COVID. The problem is that some other changes have not been finalized by the CDC and the NJDOH.

  • Letter from the Superintendent and Asst. Superintendent - December 23, 2021

Dear Wayne Schools Community: Best wishes to all members of the Wayne Schools community for a joyous holiday season! We know the past year has been tough on everyone, but we also know better days are ahead. Schools work best when education is treated as a partnership between schools and the community and organized around the needs of children. We look forward to working together and building upon this partnership in 2022.

  • Letter from the Superintendent - December 20, 2021

I am happy to inform you that the District is able to revert to the quarantine standard that we have been following all year. The recent change to a fourteen-day quarantine resulted from the New Jersey Department of Health initiating changes when our region was classified as high risk for COVID.

One challenging part of my job involves sharing news that I know will not be well-received. The good news is that we were able to get to this point in the school year without many COVID issues. The bad news is that we see that changing rapidly.

Now that we have a full day schedule for all of our students, we are back to serving lunch, and as I wrote before the start of the school year, this presents some unique pandemic-related challenges.
