Tri-M: Music Honor Society

About Tri-M
-
Tri-M is a National Music Honor Society and stands for Modern, Music, Masters. By becoming a member of Tri-M, students agree to become students of music for life. This includes an interest in the process as well as the performance, and the purpose as well as the product.
The students of Tri-M see music as both an academic and artist pursuit. They understand that advocacy and knowledge are important to both protecting and advancing the study of music as an integral component of a young person’s education.
Tri-M is affiliated with the National Association For Music Education (NAfME) which is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of music education.
Tri-M shares and supports the objectives of every dedicated music educator to increase student and school involvement with music and to strengthen and unify the school music program. Tri-M offers a complete system of rewards that help motivate effort and recognize excellence in individuals and chapters. With this system, the society builds self-esteem and provides a channel for personal fulfillment. A student who is inducted as a Tri-M member has achieved one of the highest honors in Wayne Valley's Music Department.
Tri-M is a service based organization which brings music to the Wayne community through several performance opportunities such as performing at senior centers, concerts and recitals, outreach to the middle school and elementary schools, helping younger students. Tri-M also works closely with other chapters from neighboring districts.
