    Dear Anthony Wayne Learning Community,

It is an honor and privilege to be the principal of Anthony Wayne Middle School.  Our three way partnership of exceptional students, talented and dedicated teachers and supportive parents make us a learning community with endless possibilities.

The 180 Days of AWesome character education initiative developed by the AWMS Character Education Committee was implemented throughout the 2014-2015 school year and proved to have a positive impact on our school community. We will continue this focus for a sixth year during the 2019-2020 school year. We want all students of AWMS to remember this year's theme, 'You can't run away from who you are, but what you can do is run toward who you want to be.' Part of our Character Education Program is a One School One Book Initiative again this year.  We will all learn and grow together through the novel, Ghost by Jason Reynolds.
Remember Stallions, your academic and social-emotional well being and development is extremely important to all of the adults here at Anthony Wayne Middle School.  It is up to all of us to make AWMS a great school that is welcoming, tolerant, collaborative and kind.  In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. -

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.  Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy and successful 2019-2020 school year.  Together, let's make it an AWesome one!
