    2022-2023 Calendar Update

    The Board of Education adopted a 2022-2023 calendar, which incorporated four emergency days, with June 6th (election day) scheduled as a minimal day. However, we only used one emergency day based on the unusually mild winter weather. This leaves three emergency days to be added to the calendar so that the school year ends as scheduled.

    2023-2024 Kindergarten Students Sign Up for Safety Town! Safety Town is a program in which youngsters eligible for kindergarten in September are familiarized with various concepts of safety. The program allows each youngster to become sensitive to the need for safety in the home, the school, and the community. Although not mandatory, it serves as an excellent experience for those who will be entering kindergarten in September.

    (Wayne, New Jersey) - At the reorganization meeting, three new board members were seated based on the results of the November general election. School Business Administrator William Moffitt administered Ryan Battershill's oath of office, while Board Member Donald Pavlak, Jr. administered Matt Giordano's oath. The Honorable Judge Scott T. Rumana administered the oath of office to Barbara Rigoglioso.

    Wayne Board of Education Recognizes National Merit and AP Scholars

    (Wayne, NJ) – On Thursday, November 17, the Wayne Board of Education recognized 64 students for their academic achievements with the National Merit and Advanced Placement Scholarship Program. The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition to recognize student achievement and to award undergraduate scholarships. Established in 1955, the program is open to all U.S. high school students who meet participation requirements.

    Wayne Township Public Schools attended Wayne Day on September 18th. At the WTPS booth, we displayed a video showcasing the many Facilities Department upgrades completed in the district for the school year 2022-2023 and a video about the first day of school at all of the 15 buildings.

    Update on Standardized Assessments for the 2022-2023 School Year

    During the ongoing pandemic recovery, the New Jersey Department of Education applied for federal testing waivers which requires school districts to ensure students take a benchmark assessment at the onset of the new school year in order to collect data on potential learning loss, provide teachers with early intervention data, and also provide parents with timely information about their children's current progress and potential learning needs.
