Letter from the Superintendent - September 3, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians:
A new school year is just around the corner, and we are writing today to share some exciting details about the start of another great year in the Wayne Township Public Schools. We look forward to welcoming all of our students on September 9th, including our very first class of full-day kindergarten students.
We are thrilled that we will be back in session for full days without cohorts, and our primary goal is to keep things that way. We will do everything we can to keep all of our schools safe for students and staff while using all mitigation strategies to limit the impact of the virus and maintain all of our educational programs. This is a big challenge for the entire community, and we all have an important part to play if we are to be successful.
Last school year, the school community rose to the challenge and experienced success in preventing the spread of COVID in our schools. Seven hundred seventy-three students and staff members tested positive for COVID last year, but there were only two cases of in-school transmission, and this was limited to only one school. We followed mitigation strategies from the Centers for Disease Control, the New Jersey Department of Health, and our local Wayne Health Department, and those strategies proved to be effective.
