Wayne Hills Hosts the NJAAPT Physics Olympics for the First Time and Wins Two Trophies

On Saturday, January 21st, Wayne Hills hosted over 230 students and teachers from all over North and Central Jersey for the NJAAPT Physics Olympics.

This competition has been taking place every January in New Jersey for over 20 years, but this was the first time it took place at Wayne Hills. 34 teams from 17 schools competed in six events, including Fermi Questions, a Grab Bag Event, Bernoulli Ball, a Zero Impact Vehicle, an Egg Throw Event and a Laser Target Shoot.

Members of the Wayne Hills Engineering Club formed two teams of 6. Team 1 consisted of Nick Pepple, Jordan Praismann, Nicky Loewrigkeit, Nadir Ghani, Colin Graves and Ishan Sinha. Team 2 consisted of Aaron Schwarz, Julie Bae, Baslan Asaad, Aadhithyaram Balaji, Vivek Limaye and Michael Chen.

Wayne Hills Team 1 won first place in the Bernoulli Ball event, with Colin Graves navigating a course of rings with a ping pong ball floating in a low pressure air pocket over a blow dryer in the fastest time!

Nadir Ghani competed and came in 2nd place for Hills in the Laser Target Shoot event, placing an equilateral prism in the right location to aim a laser beam at a target. These two high scores, as well as a good showing in all the other events, led Wayne Hills to a 2nd place overall trophy! Congratulations!!!
