Letter from the Superintendent - October 27, 2020
October 27, 2020
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:
As reports make their way to our District regarding large-scale parties held this past weekend and others planned for this upcoming weekend, I would like to remind all members of our school community that such events may lead to our inability to continue with in-person instruction. Large-scale parties can become “super spreader” events that result in school shutdowns and other unpleasant or tragic outcomes.
While we recognize that our schools remain open in part because members of our school community have been very responsible, we also acknowledge that COVID fatigue, colder weather, and a variety of other pressures may lead to plans that adversely affect educational opportunities for our students. It is easy to find articles and examples of schools that have been closed due to weekend parties.
Please keep this in mind as you make social or travel plans. We have a collective responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff members, and our larger community.
Sincerely,
Mark Toback, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
