The Wayne Valley Symphonic Band caps off an incredible year with a performance at the New Jersey State Concert Band Gala. The State Gala is a collective performance that features the top-12 bands in New Jersey after earning one of the top four scores in their region. The state is broken up into three regions - NJSMA (Region 1/North Jersey), CJMEA (Region 2/Central Jersey), and SJBODA (Region 3/South Jersey) - which are all branches of the New Jersey Music Educators Association.
In Region 1, over 50 bands participated in the festival and the Wayne Valley Symphonic Band earned one of the top four scores solidifying their invitation to the New Jersey State Concert Band Gala. Within the state, over 150 bands participated in their region's festival, which makes an invitation to the State Gala incredibly difficult and impressive.
The Wayne Valley Symphonic Band had their Spring Concert in early May, and will be ending their performance season at the Memorial Day Parade and Wayne Valley Graduation. Once the school year ends, the band program will pick back up in July with their State Champion Marching Band.
