Message to Lafayette School Families:

This morning, at approximately 9:20 a.m., all students and staff were safely evacuated from Lafayette Elementary School due to the presence of smoke in classroom 24. First responders arrived promptly and, together with our maintenance team, determined that the issue was caused by a malfunctioning motor in a rooftop air-conditioning unit. That unit was immediately shut down and will remain out of service until the motor is replaced.

Fans were used to clear any lingering smoke from the affected classrooms, and fire officials confirmed that the building was safe for re-entry at 9:50 a.m. Students and staff then returned to class and continued with their school day.

We are proud to share that all students and staff remained safe throughout the event, thanks to our regular safety drills and preparedness measures.
