A concerning trend continues to circulate on TikTok and other social media platforms that encourages intentional damage to computers. The trend involves inserting small metal objects into the charging ports or internal components of Chromebooks to create an electrical short circuit. This can result in sparking, electrical fires, and even battery punctures, all of which can cause serious injury and damage.
The district previously sent a communication detailing responsible use of district issued devices, but, more importantly this is a dangerous trend and we are asking for your support in speaking with your child about the very real dangers of such behavior, as well as reinforcing the importance of treating school-issued devices with care.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe.
