Congratulations to MACKENZIE CASTALDO (3rd grade at Packanack Elementary school) for winning the First Annual Future Chef Competition on March 27, 2024! Mack's Chili Cheese Mac scored 94 total points with the judges for Originality, Easy Preparation, Healthy Attributes, Kid Friends, Taste, Plate Presentation & Chef Presentation. Mackenzie's recipe will represent Wayne Public Schools to be considered in the National Future Chefs Competition and be featured on the Elementary School Lunch Menu in May.2024. On March 6, across the United States, families and loved ones remember and celebrate the lives lost to drug overdose. This day has become known as Black Balloon Day. Black Balloon Day has become a national and international event, bringing awareness to the lives lost to their battle with addiction.

The article states, “there is no doubt in anyone's mind that most of the Wayne schools are in need of modernization,” and that the bond referendum would “address these issues that seem to make teaching and learning in Wayne more difficult, or more inconvenient, than it could be.”
